Slay the Party is played on a square-shaped, looping linear game board divided into 40 squares, with 10 squares on each side. The design takes heavy inspiration from the classic Monopoly board, reimagined with RPG-themed mechanics and interactions.

Squares are categorized into three types based on their interaction: Neutral, Hostile, and Special.

Neutral Squares

Neutral squares serve as safe spaces where players cannot attack or be attacked.

Tavern

The Tavern serves as the game's starting square, drawing inspiration from the classic D&D trope of beginning adventures in a tavern. All players start here, and passing through the Tavern restores health and mana, allows players to upgrade their gear using gold, and grants them new quests. The Tavern is the only square triggered by passing through, not landing on it.

<aside> ❗

Effects specifically labeled as "teleport" do not count as passing through the Tavern and will not trigger its effects.

Shop

Shop squares allow players to spend gold to upgrade their gear before reaching the Tavern.

Bonfire

Bonfires restore a small amount of health and mana, acting as a short rest akin to D&D mechanics.
